Finally: DAViCal 0.9.5

Finally, I have released DAViCal 0.9.5. Hopefully this will resolve the series of installation- and upgrade- related problems which plagued the 0.9.4 release.

Thanks for everyone being patient while this release was thoroughly tested through five pre-release versions, and especially thanks to those patient people who helped test those pre-releases.

Now if I don't get too distracted by:

... then maybe I will be able to really concentrate on nailing the scheduling extensions work over the next couple of months...

Wish me luck!

now its working, now its not.

Hi Andrew,

Last week I finally managed to get Davical working on a testing machine at my work running Ubuntu Hardy, postgresql 8.3 and php5. Today it stopped working and I'm getting an error of: Database Error Could not connect to PostgreSQL database. I've double checked the settings and it all seems to be right, I can connect to the davical database from the console so postgre is up and running. phpinfo is showing postgre support is installed. Are you able to point me in the right direction to fix this?

Thanks,

Marc

Please ignore my previous

Please ignore my previous comment.. I got it working.. for some reason postgresql was running on port 5433, not 5432

PostgreSQL on a different port

Now that Debian (and so Ubuntu) supports multiple versions of PostgreSQL installed at the same time, the installation process assigns the next available port during the installation process.

This means that if you install postgresql-8.2 and then later install postgresql-8.3 the 8.3 instance will almost certainly be on 5433.

It's caught me out a few times too.

Cheers,
Andrew.

Thunderbird lightning problem

Hi, Just notifying people of a bug they may encounter with Thunderbird Lightning 0.8. At first I wondered if there was a problem with Davical, however it looks like it was a bug in the lightning plugin.

I installed Thunderbird Lightning 0.8 on my PC and the times for calendar events were messed up for a period about 3 weeks after daylight savings (oct 5 2008 in australia). "messed up" .. to be more precise, the morning events (at 9am) were shifted forward an hour. The problem occurs on PC, Mac, and Linux.

Installing the pre release version of lightning 0.9rc1 fixed the bug - so looks like it had nothing to do with davical.

-- Summary --

Program : Thunderbird + Lightning 0.8
OS : PC, Mac, and Linux
Server: Davical 0.9.5.1 [so says synaptic] on Ubuntu Linux
Bug : morning calendar events shifted forward an hour for 3 weeks after daylight savings (my timezone is Australia/Sydney). Problem occurs in date range from about Oct 5 to Oct 26.
Fix : Install the pre release version of lightning 0.9rc1 from here: http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/calendar/lightning/releases/0.9rc1/
