Are you confusing link-local with site-local address?

A LAN should be using site-local addresses, rather than just link-local addreses.

These are the IPv6 equivalent to RFC1918 addresses like 192.168/16, 10/8 and so forth and this patch will activate the use of IPv6 AAAA lookups if such addresses are in use.

Regards,
Andrew.
