Oh dear: Mum has managed to upgrade her laptop to Ubuntu 11.10

Oh dear: Mum has managed to upgrade her laptop to Ubuntu 11.10 and now her mouse won't work... I mean ten out of ten for going through the upgrade process, but now she's got to get to grips with Unity. I was hoping to avoid that particular upgrade until 12.04 came out. You don't want to ask too much of an 80-year old.
