Pond in Annecy

Above a weir (but not the one I posted a photo of yesterday) is this delightful pond, giving the colour of the water, along with the plentiful vegetation, the occasional steeple and the everpresent mountains in the distance. A churlish photographer would complain of the unrelieved tedium of the blue sky, but sometimes that's the way it is, and anyway there are still a few small clouds peeping out to keep even that person happy!

This is only the second time I've been to Annecy, but the weather has been like this both times. Mind you, the little island fort has been under repair both times too, which is about as frustrating as two visits to the Bartholdi Fountain in Lyon, a year apart, with the fountain still under repair. If a fountain can take two years then surely a castle can be allowed the same!

In fact today we visited Voltaire's Chateau near Geneva, which has been very much under reconstruction since 2015 with completion scheduled for 2018. So I guess that's three websites I'll need to check before I come this way again... :-) Ah well. Regardless of whether things are under repair, or restoration, there's always another worthwhile photograph around another corner. Perhaps a little harder to find, but seeing those little bits of magic everywhere and making them visible to everyone is the artist's job.
