Every 25 years or so I drive past Ohaaki Power Station and can actually take a photo of it. The rest of the time I can see the top of it peeking out of the forest from a very long way away, but as you get closer you are in an avenue of trees. Of course I could drive down closer to it and (maybe) get a photo from up close, but it dominates the skyline for so long that this is the shape I always remember.
So today, on the way back from Rotorua, I clambered up an uprooted tree stump and got this. In fact I wish I'd stopped on the way up and taken some, because that was at dusk and the light would have been much better, but when you have the family in the car for 5 hours and you're 20 minutes from destination, stopping seems hard.
