Stevens Creek Reservoir
Yesterday I drove to Santa Cruz in the morning and wandered along the clifftop and out to the end of the pier, then I drove on to my hotel in Palo Alto via Highway 9, which winds it's way slowly up and over the hills similarly to highway 17, but without the rollercoaster adrenaline terror of driving in two narrow winding lanes of hurtling metal moving at 60mph. Much more relaxing, and way prettier. I think +Google Maps needs a "scenic route" option where you can say "I'm not in a hurry to get there, navigate me via the prettiest route".
Coming down the inland side of the hills I turned off and went down Stephens Canyon, and past this reservoir, which seems to be pretty much empty, so I walked down into it, until my eye-level was about where the water should be, and took this panorama. That sure is a lot of missing water!
