The Old Tower

Overtopped now by this tree, which would never have been allowed to grow there when the castle was in evidence. This part of Ireland is liberally sprinkled with towers and castles and ruined abbeys, priories & monastic towers.

This is an outer tower of Burnchurch Castle, south of Kilkenny, and there's a large square tower here as well, which appears to be largely intact, but without any access - you can wander the site for free, but there's no access inside either tower.
