I recently managed to get my hands on a Google Home in Ireland, and it seems significantly better than Amazon Echo, but two big problems for me:
- my wife feels like a dork saying "Hey Google" or "OK Google" while she was OK with saying "Alexa ...", and she's got an original Moto-X so she gets to configure the wakeup phrase for her phone. I wish I could do that on my oh-so-newer Nexus 5x
- I had to switch my phone to English (US) for the setup, and I really need to switch that back to English (UK) because it can no longer recognise Irish placenames that I want to navigate to.
I guess that second one is a l18n issue and it's not released in Ireland yet so I shouldn't moan, but really: forcing me to switch to a specific sub-locale of English for a non-voice setup? Most apps will just fallback to the closest localisation they have, and there was zero voice involved in the setup.
