Chandelier in Castletown House for joinindaily today because "It hangs from the ceiling". The docent was very amused when I lay on my back on the floor to take this photo :-)

The chandeliers here are really quite special since they are Murano Glass and are the only original fittings in the house which is otherwise quite sparsely furnished. Regrettably this lack of funiture and fittings is fairly common with historic properties in Ireland which have often been donated to the state when the families ran out of money for the upkeep and had already sold all the movable bits and pieces - it's very lucky that the chandeliers got included in this case.
