I used to think Brother printers were an excellent choice for Linux users because of their driver support, but I got a new one recently and it's been hell to get set up because all of their drivers are 32-bit, and all our computers are naturally 64-bit, and the packages have no information about what 32-bit libraries they depend on.
It seems the most recent Linux driver release is from 2013! I wonder if perhaps their last Linux driver developer left at that point, and they've just been going downhill since.
