North of Kaikoura
There's been a 6.2 magnitude earthquake up the valley in the centre of this photo - about 5km from where I was standing when I took this - so the landscape might not look like this when the sun comes up in the morning. That follows on from a 7.5 magnitude quake about 80km west of here (previously reported as 6.6, but now reviewed to 7.5).
We've not seen any reports from north canterbury at this point, so I'm assuming all power and communications are down in this area.
My family-in-law have a campervan there, so I guess if they got out of their beds OK they're going to be living in that for a while...
