I regularly see suggestions that playgrounds can't be both safe and fun together. "When I were a lad..." etc, but I think this one on Wellington's waterfront is an excellent counterargument. When everything is done right, play and safety need not be mutually exclusive.
This playground firmly expresses the whimsy and plain old playfulness that almost make it a work of art, while still being very thoroughly safe for almost any age child.
Here is where it all happens, when Wellington turns on one of those magical days, when the sky is bluer than any childhood sky I can remember, when the chill isn't completely gone, so you have the energy to climb anything, but when everyone is smiling that winter is over.
