The Wonderful Barn
Me and my camera need to spend some quality time together, I think. I've managed to get out with it really only a couple of times in the last two months - thankfully a friend visiting Ireland gave me the perfect excuse to show off one of the quirkier "piles of rocks" in the Dublin region.
Just over the border into County Kildare is this wonderful monument to feudal economics - apparently it was constructed in the 1700's during a deep recession as a way for the local landowner to provide employment to the otherwise unemployed and help retain a healthy working class.
It's sad to see the lack of maintenance on the surrounding buildings of this rather special little construction, but I do hope there is some kind of preservation watch on it.
