Climb to the Croix-Rousse

We're home now and I'm going through all my photos. We started last Sunday leaving our apartment and making our way across a big intersection I saw a staircase heading up somewhere quieter, so I suggested we go up it for a little way...

Fifty-odd steps up there was a street off to the side, and there seemed to be a landing about another hundred steps up, where we could see a couple guiding their toddler down while carrying the pram, so we elected to continue.

Arriving at the 150 step mark we saw a new staircase, this time with no paths left or right, that went off in a curve. Not as steep, but much longer. Oh well, how hard can it be? ... 300 steps later we reached the top.

I should have guessed when I saw some masochist run down to the bottom of the steps and then run back up. Smiling.

This was a good start to Sunday, when we walked for a bit over four hours, but it's been a holiday of walking: Saturday (travelling) 2h15, Sunday 4h04, Monday 4h17, Tuesday 5h20(18.5km!), Wednesday 1h32 (mostly in Mâcon, after we were in the car around Beaujolais region), Thursday 3h58, Friday 2h04 and Saturday 56m (coming home), for a total holiday walking of over 24 hours in the week.

I don't think any of us have moved today though :-)
