Who needs stained glass?
It was perfect weather to visit the Hill of Slane today, and afterwards we went to the Old Melifont Abbey, arriving just after a tour bus, and then Monasterboice, where our luck was in and the tour bus pulled up just as we were ready to leave.
This photo was taken inside the gothic tower of the old Abbey, but the hill has a lot of history, including a mound which may be the burial place of Fir Bolg King Slaine.
The boys were a bit grumpy at being taken away from their books and computers, but they spend long enough at them that I think they should be able to cope. Especially now they're into their school break and get seven days a week to do that stuff.
