Mellifont Abbey
This was the first Cistercian abbey to be built in Ireland, in the 12th century, although this is a view into the Chapter House which is much newer - merely from the 14th century. I do love the structure of the arches.
As of today school is out for the year and the boys have both finished their exams, so we're flying off to Lyon for a week to get our balance back. Due to a miscalculation on my part it seems that we picked a date when the city will be filled with Irish visitors, but hopefully they'll be gone by Monday and things will quiet down. Since we were already going to be there I investigated tickets for the sportsball thingy - I thought it might be fun to go along to something like that just to see what it's like. At €450+ per seat I wasn't that curious though!
