I've think I'e decided that for my next smartwatch I want something which supports low energy bluetooth.  As an optional extra it could possibly be useful if it will tell the time, but in that case the display will need to be large enough that I can read it when it's close to my face and preferably in full sunlight.

The primary use-case for my current smartwatch seems to be that my phone will unlock quicker if it is nearby.  Almost everything else has turned out to be irrelevant and distracting, and as I get older my eyes are losing the ability to focus close enough to read it.  My wife laughs when I hold the restaurant menu at arms length to read it - possibly because she can't even do that and has to put her glasses on to even have a chance.
