Cork City Gaol
Behind me is the entrance through the outer wall of the gaol, which is the typically unforgiving exterior that you expect of a gaol (or the defensive outer walls of a castle for that matter), but this interior area is much more like the landscaped gardens of a castle than I was expecting.
Of course just because it looks nice doesn't mean the inmates were treated well, and there are the normal requisite number of horrors recounted as you go on the tour. Well worth-while though.
