One of the things I love about Whitby (the suburb of Porirua, that is :-) is that it has lots of parkland overlaid on the suburb. A kind of separate transport infrastructure especially dedicated to walking which was designed-in when the suburb was built back in the '70s.
Newer parts of Whitby don't have anything like this, but it's actually awesome when it works as well as it does here, and a shame it is not a modern fashion to do this.
Yesterday we went for a walk in the afternoon sun. We were kind of hoping the cherry trees would be in full blossom, but as it was they were mostly buds with just the first delicate blooms appearing - still nice and photogenic, in a different way!
